Preservation
becomes structure.
A Roman-era pipe beneath the site establishes a condition for the design: the school must transfer its loads away from the archaeological remains. The elevated building allows teaching spaces, circulation, and outdoor life to be organised around this constraint.
01 / The building in section
Ground, structure,
and occupied space.
The longitudinal section brings the site’s change in level into focus. The central stair connects the teaching floors and lower spaces, while the inclined support beneath the projecting block keeps part of the courtyard open.
A route.
A place to gather.
The broad staircase follows the change in ground level and opens onto the courtyard. Balconies and the external stair make movement visible along the building, while the raised volume creates a sheltered edge to outdoor activity.
02 / Plans
A compact plan.
A connected school.
The plans show the relationship between the teaching rooms, the stair and lift core, and the outdoor circulation. Select a level to follow the building from its lower spaces to the roof.
03 / Elevations
The frame and
the façade.
The two end elevations bring together the repeated vertical elements, the external stair, and the inclined supports. One frame holds both the enclosure and the spaces of movement.
